Beginning the long process of research for the best boats for a dive boat operation. In the way early planning stages phase. Must admit, have picked up a yachting mag, Lol. Maybe a little too expensive to start but very cool!
A girl can dream can't she
:blinking:

I would suggest looking at Newton or Radon, both are custom boats, and as such they are pricey. I have been 'just looking' for a dive boat for the last 9 months or so. Most of the recreational sport boats seem too 'bubbly' to me.

How about telling us your intended use, personal, charter, trailable, number of divers, cabin and head, waters to be used on, etc

Hi Captain,
My bad, that info would help I know. Charter boat probably, salt water, 12-24 divers, a head or two.
Thanks

Don't know where you are in Texas but Newton boats are about 40 miles from me in Slidell, LA, right next to I-10. If you go through New Orleans on the way to Florida you have passed right by them.

Check this out. Pacific adventure is selling their boat to get a new one. It has it's own trailer.

For dive charter boat has to get certified by coast guard for passengers and safety. Don at Pacific Adventure can tell you all about it.

Good Luck

If it's on a trailer, it's unlikely to carry 12 divers.

If you have 6 or fewer passengers, it doesn't need to be inspected.

But in any case the captain needs a CG license approprate to the boat size and
the area.

If you want 12-24 divers, Newtons are nice boats, as are retired oil field crew boats.
I have first-hand experience (as pax) on both with 20 divers. They work. Mmmm,
interesting -- both the Newton and the crew boat came from Slidel LA.

I dived from a 38 foot Munson on Maui, and believe it or not, it was on a four axle trailer. All of those dive boats leaving from Kehei Harbor are trailered, and most are pretty darn big.

If you have six paying passengers or less, the captain will need a "six-pack" license. There are experience requirements for that license, including quite a few days on the sea.
