After watching Food Network shows again and again on the issue, I talked to missus into trying the cheeks to start at Otates. However the couple times we tried, no head left....

My husband and I are were raised in Pa Dutch families and grew up butchering our own meats. Every year, we gathered up the family to participate in what I will forever remember as 3-4 days of the most hardest work I have ever done. However, one of the highlights, as we waited in the cold early morning, watching large cast iron pots boil up the bone meats for scrapple, was to see who could be the first to steal the cheek meat. We had very fresh pork chops the size of dinner plates and steaks, tenderloin being no big deal, but, ahhhh....those cheeks were definetly the coveted prize.

La Choza - Shrimp Veracruz. Light sauce, vegetables and large tasty shrimp
Limon Soup - light broth , very flavorful

Asadaro Pollo- take out grilled chicken

Chilangos- (on Avenida 10) - chicken cutlet, pounded and lightly breaded

Sorrissi's - Spaghetti en crusta - a baked pie with Spaghetti, large prawn shrimp, mussels, seafood, marinara sauce, covered with a crisp dough

Ceasar Salad- fresh dressing and crisp greens

Pancho's Backyard- Piña Colada. One is a meal in itself. Very large, cold and creamy However I will say that my Margarita friends rave about the Mango Margaritas there. I personally can not review as Tequila and I had an argument several years ago and we no longer see eye to eye.

SueSue, WHOA on the discussing what is in scrapple. Fried a little hard and with some syrup is tasty as long as we DON'T discuss the making and ingredients.... *shudder*

La Choza's Limon Soup is supposed to cure about anything to include hangovers or at least so I have been told.

I know it isn't food but the mojito's at the cuban place next to El Foco are also really great and not to be missed also the food is good and the rice and beans are excellent.

Sabores - Chicken Enchiladas with Salsa Verde; I'm a big fan of Salsa Verde, if it's done right, and when grandma was cooking at Sabores, the Salsa Verde was about the best I've ever found. A perfect blend of the sweet fruitiness of the tomatillos and the heat and tang of the chiles. And you simply cannot beat the prices and value, not to mention the homey atmosphere and friendly service at Sabores. It's near the top of my "must go there" restaurants for Cozumel. Only open for lunch, Avenida 5, between Calle 3 & Calle 5 Sur.

Pancho's Back Yard - the Tequila Shrimp, after an appetizer of the Gazpacho with Lobster, and, for desert, that flambe bananas dish (similar to bananas Foster, but I don't remember what they call it).

Prima - at the old location (where La Terraza is now), the Amazing Blue Cheese Salad, and Shrimp Scampi with Pasta. There's no such thing as too much blue cheese, and no such thing as too much garlic.

Aslo love the Porky Pasilla at Kinta and just about everything else there as well.

The Shrimp Sonora at the Sonora Grill. Bacon wrapped shrimp that is worth all the calories and more.

The Chili Relleno at Blue Angel. Huge serving and very tasty. And their Ritas rank right up there with the best of Coz.

Tacos pastor at El Pique.

Quesadilla arrachera at Los Otates.

The seafood grill at Del Sur along with any and all of the empanadas. Be sure to get a couple of manzana empanadas to go so you can have them with your coffee for breakfast the next morning.

Porky Pasilla @ Kinta
garlic bread and calzone @ Guido's

yes, yes, yes!!!

Another good meal at Sonora Grill, (not on the menu, but they have it upon request), Garlic Octopus!! O.M.G.!!

That reminds me of another mention: Del Sur! The light flaky crust on the empanada is really different from the Mexican. Get the apple dessert one with the de leche sauce instead of ice cream. That is tasty. The "Del Sur" empanada with the plum in with the meat is really tasty too.

The Shrimp Sonora at the Sonora Grill. Bacon wrapped shrimp that is worth all the calories and more.
Octopus Sonora! It's not on the menu; we "invented" it.

Ok my turn
Shrimp Sonora - Sonora Grill
Mixed Ceviche - La Perlita
Shrimp on a wire - El Moro
Pork chop tacos - Los Otates
Mojito - El Casino
Chicken Nachos, Magaritas - Wet Wendys
Grilled Garlic Fish - La Choza
Tomato Basil Empanada - Del Sur

hmmmm...feels like Im forgetting one or two.
