After a little more research and seeing what some on here had to say, I've settled on the Sony HDR-HC3, and Ikelite housing.

I've found the camcorder itself at USAPhotonation for $570.

Question... has anyone dealt with this vendor? Their prices seem extremely low compared to some others, however, everything seems to be in order, and they note when the product is new or refurbished.
Never dealt with them but realistically when everyone else is selling that camera for over $1000, there's something not quite right. I would wonder if it's an import model and also if the 1 year warranty is handled thru them, not Sony. Notice that it doesn't say mfr's. warranty.

Also when you click the contents link all it says is call for details. I'd make sure you get a battery(Sony NP-FP60), Sony battery charger, Memory Stick Duo card + adapter. composite & component cables, camera strap, etc, all the stuff that comes in the normal retail box for that price. Typically low price dealers like this will upsell you on all this stuff that's normally included from a regular dealer...

Might also want to verify that the menus are in English, I've seen some Japanese menu HDV imports on eBay, maybe this is one.

If you want to compare this to a legitimate dealer price, price it on www.bhphotovideo.com or www.abesofmain.com.

And personally, I'm a little wary when I can't find a legitimate street address anywhere. Anyone can put up a website and with an 800#.

Your call...

I have not had any first hand experience with them but a quick search shows me that I wouldn't even consider them.

Greatly appreciate the feedback, guys...

I guess it's a matter of the old adage: "...anything that *looks* too good to be true... yada, yada..."

Can anyone recomend a new model camcorder that would be as good as the sony
TRV900? The fire wire connection on mine is no longer working and the repair cost
will be as much as a used TRV900 or some lower end Models. Mike f/b

Hi Guys,

I just want to make sure that you guys know about our new SLX video light package. It's currently $590 for the set of 2 and it comes with the adapter and diffuser. Scubaboard members will get an additional discount (see my signature) when you order it through our site.

Check out our video lights at http://www.nocturnallights.com/category_s/3.htm.

Let me know if you guys have any questions. Thanks.

I am looking to venture into videography and would like some insight and ideas. Can anybody recommend a good quality underwater videocamera setup at a decent cost. Also include some of the things I should think about buying when it comes to underwater video. Let me know of what kind of prices I could be expecting to pay?

Hi ScubLuuke,

There are several budget housings out there and we have video light setups that are in the $500-1100 range, which is significantly more affordable than most of the other systems in the market.

Dennis,

Not much mention of Aqua housings? I am looking at one for a HC-7 Sony. They appear to be bullet proof. Your comments appreciated.
