There were several versions of this news article on the web, but none said any more about the cause...

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Justin James Cyril Swan of Alberta, Canada. The cause of death is still under investigation by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.

St. Louis County officials say a 31-year-old man has died in a scuba diving incident.

Crews were called to the area of the Pike Lake Public Access in Canosia Township around 10:25am Friday morning. Upon arrival, first responders learned the man had been scuba diving with another person near the dock area, and was seen going under water shortly after asking for help to get to the dock.

The man was taken out of the water within minutes by his diving partner and a nearby witness. Lifesaving efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and the man from Alberta, Canada died. The man’s name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The cause of his death remains under investigation.
