Hi, im about to travel to America in Jan and i am going to pick up a g12 and ikelite housing. I was just wondering if anybody had comparision shots of a with and without the external wide angle option. As i would really like to see the difference. Thanks again.

AdamHeyHeyScubaDiver,
the comparision shots pictures on the Ikelite website don't look so exciting...
I use a INON UWL-100 wetlens on my Patima G11 housing and the difference is
big and adding the INON dome lens unit or the UWL-100 will gives you whooping 130°.

If you are seriously interessed in wide angle photography, the Ikelite G12 housing may not be the right choice for you as
it don't allow WA wetlenses becaus it would vignette badly or you have to zoom in so much to render the WA wetlens useless.
Unfortunatly this is a problem with all WA zoom P&S cameras having only 1 zoom port as the port has to be long enough to
allow zooming and very wide to avoid vignetting at 28mm.
This is the reason that Patima has 2 ports, one very short, non zoomable WA port with a 67mm tread and
one "generic" zoomable port, with no tread.

I was so dissappointed with the results (Herraduradivers already explained why)

To Herraduradivers,
Can you show me some wide angle pictures with your Patima G11 housing?Might want to buy the Patima housing if your shots dont have such effects, thanks

If you want wide angle with the G10/11/12 then you need either the FIX housing or the Patima.

I believe that Ikelite does offer a corrector port for their housing which corrects for the natural magnification that a flat port causes due to diffraction. This is NOT wide angle but better than nothing if Ikelite is what you do in the end.

The WD-4 is a refraction correction to the original 28mm (I think) of the G12. It's a very good quality lens, much better than the BE.

The Fix G12 housings won't be arriving until Jan 1st(ish). I did see the first protoype at DEMA.

AdamHeyHeyScubaDiver:
here are some shots with the INON UWL-100 Type 2 screwed on the Patima WA-Port.
Using the additional dome port for the UWL-100 you should gain another 30°.
Not my best ones, but they show no flare, distorsion or any other visible defect.

Below a without and with UWL-100 photo.
You will se that this combination is vignetting, but zooming in slightly will solve this issue.
The photos are uncroped, one with the UWL-100 (no dome unit) and the other without.
The first photo is unsharp due surge, it's not the lens!
