CaptainMarvel:
Don't remember you getting any names wrong. On the message board, Seth goes by Stryker and I go by CaptainMarvel. I can make up some cool-sounding scientific nomenclature if it will help, though. :)

Whew! Hey, you guys missed another "washing machine" day. Although it was fine deeper than 40 ft, once I got above 25 ft it was an E-ticket ride today. Strong current from the south combined with swell from the northwest and surge made it a lot of fun exiting on the stairs. Towards the end of both dives I turned on the video camera and kept it running while the surge made me do 360's and forward/backward rolls!!

I definitely felt your pain yesterday, Dr. Bill! Wild Texas two-step surge on the reefs at White's point yesterday...about 5-6 feet sweep back and forth and even more in one particular deep channel. Then, an "easy" rocky exit turned into an exercise in humility as my frozen feet abandoned me in 3 foot waves...leaving me to crawl humbly ashore...shin bruises are forming now.
Paraphrased from pilots: "Any rocky exit you can (eventually) walk away from is a good one!"
I would love to see your video with a good RockNRoll soundtrack! "Rock Me Like a Hurricane"????
Cheers,
Claudette
P.S. At least the geothermal vents warmed the bottom temp up to 54F, as compared to the adjacent vent-free reef which was a numbing 51F.
