Yep. It caught my eye because it looked like it was injured just laying on it's side and the colors against the white sand really popped. The black spot almost looked like a hole in its body due to the high contrast. Turns out it was just "playing dead".

One of the five pelicans wintering over at Rum Point this December/January. Almost dive bombed me as I was finishing a snorkeling loop.
