The Malama Kai aka OC Dive Boat http://www.ocdiveboat.com will be running dive charters in the Chesapeake Bay this fall, The boat will be in the South River, just outside Annapolis, making it a short drive from the DC/Baltimore area. Charters will begin in mid-October and run through the end of December of 2009. We will then be back in Ocean City, Md in March for the 2010 season.

Our Weekly Schedule is online 2009 Fall Chesapeake Bay Dives

Friday AM – Oysters Dives

Saturday AM – Oysters Dives

Saturday PM – Bridge Rubble Dives

Sunday AM – Wreck Dives

What wrecks will you be diving? Will you need an advanced certification for the wreck dives? What are the Bridge Rubble Dives?

Will the oyster dives be a one tank or two tank dive?

Will there be someone on the boat to sort the oysters while we are diving?

Will all the oysters be divided up among all the divers or will each diver keep their "catch"?

Thanks for the questions..

The bridge rubble is actually several artificial reefs sites made up of concrete piles and other building materials from different construction projects in the region. A dive on the bridge rubble is mostly like any other artificial reef dive but a "bay version" with local fish species, oysters, etc.. vis can very from an arms length to up to 12 feet. The wrecks we will be diving are going to be mostly the local mid-Chesapeake Bay wrecks such as the Maxwell, etc..

As far as tanks, it’s up to the diver if they want to bring one or two tanks.. Divers will have a set time block to dive , we will leave the docks at 8am and we will need to be out of the water by noon so if you would like to dive two tanks or just a long dive on a single tank, its up to you.

The Captain and crew will be there to help you sort through your catch while you dive.
The limit is 1 bushel of 3” oysters per person, the decision to split your catch or keep only the ones you catch within limits will be up to the group of divers onboard that day.

Also remember that only Maryland Residents can take oysters from the bay.
