Here are some flights I pulled up just now. I realize that the taxes add on to the fare, but you're going to pay those with any airline. It's not the airlines, it's the airport taxes, departure taxes, etc. If you look at your ticket, they actually give a breakdown of the charges.

All of these flights have only one connection through Houston or Dallas (with exception of the Houston and Dallas flights of course)

Continental, September 27 - Oct. 1 (Wednesday - Sunday)

Houston (IAH) to CZM - $303 (plus taxes)

Flying Miles in and out of Cozumel has become tough. If your willing to pay for a ticket you can get them easily. Last time we went there was no way to get miles seats and I paid almost $1400 for two roundtrip from Tulsa, OK. Rediculous!!! They have the 70,000 miles seats available but no 35,000 seats---Continental. Good Luck and have fun.

I am going down in early November from Chicago. The direct flight that United was to start never happened because of Wilma. There are no direct flights from Chicago to Cozumel even though there are so many divers in the area. I am using United/USAir via Charlotte with miles. Without miles the fare is around $900. Cancun seems to be about the only affordable way to get to Cozumel from Chicago right now.

JMPS, I also am going to Coz in early Nov the 1-8 actually and diving with Christi. I booked with AA from Minneapolis to Coz with stop at Dallas and only paid $411 taxes included. Just checked AA and fare went to 857.10 USD WOW!! even more from ORD (Chicago) Glad I booked early, was worried because fares might have gone down gas was at the High when I booked now 60 cents a gallon lower and the price for R/T ticket has over doubled.

Christi:
Yes, I am certain that is one reason this is a lower than normal low season. We used to have direct flights coming in from Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, La Guardia (or Newark) and Charlotte. The only direct flights I am aware of now are from Dallas, Atlanta and Houston...and not daily. Even Continental has cut back to three flights a week. Prior to Wilma, Continental had two daily flights from Houston, which was great because those making connections from other cities could come in on the afternoon flight. Hopefully after we get through this season, they will start regular flights again...we can pray anyway :)

Frontier Airlines is still flying non-stop on Saturdays from Denver, with connections from their other cities. Nice flight, too. They go to 3-per-week in December.

Namchief,

I was lucky enough to have enough miles to do UA/USAir. I never did see prices that low on AA or UA/USAir. Congrats on getting that price. I am going with a LDS group and staying at ScubaClub. I am interested in seeing how I like the all inclusive. I ordinarly would not have stayed at one but that is what the LDS set up.

How about a Scubaboard dinner? I did a SB dinner the last time down (Loudives arranged) and it was fun. I'll blow off an included dinner for that.
:) I'll post for interest if you are interested.

Regards,

John

Spirit Air out of Fort Lauderdale to Cancun, Sun Country out of Min/STpaul to Cancun, UAL out of Milwaukee thru Chicago to Charlotte to Coz is cheaper than Chicago to Coz on same flights, figure that out! ATA out of Chicago/Midway to Cancun N/S $318 includes all taxes Dec 1-6. Thats the one I'm on. Got mile seats on AA Chicago/Cancun N/S return Coz/Chi thru dallas for Oct. 6-11 way back in June.
