You're right, sometimes it's better not to start a code at all.

AEDs are great - they give people with the best chance of survival the most appropriate initial tx.

Amazing how an immediate countershock will revive these people. The key is to not dick around with anything else, just shock them! Have to remind the nurses about that all the time - they want to hook them up to a monitor, stick in an IV, etc. instead of giving 'em the juice.
 
It's also nice to know I always have on hand my Precordial thumper.
