Don't feel badly. A thousand bucks is a thousand bucks! If a LDS gives good customer service and a fair price on equipment, they won't have to worry about having a "hard time" in the off-season.
 
I would think there are times when we look at price as service. The better the price "the better the service". However, you can get really bad service and pay a ton, and get excellent service and pay very little. So be careful when equating the two together. Service is service and price is price.........while associated together they are uniquely different.
