long chat with Alex...…...
He had his cut a way collection made at a local machine shop in Toronto when he owned the Wet Shop

My set was made in early 1960s by US Divers for LA Co UW instructors and a few selected shops
My J valve is the old model 1/2 inch post and beam with a 1962 date
The remainder of the collection are usually as old - close to 60 years.

I suspect most were not around 60 years ago and if you were not involved in any way in diving

@abnfrog
One question
what is the red dye? -paint? - coloring? coating the exposed cut a away sections-- appears like new after all these years of use and abuse
It must be some sort of machinist special coating -- but what ?

it was an e coating for base rust proofing from the automotive co I did business with when I was in the polishing /plating co...my maintaining dept. had a large Bridgeport milling machine and my guy was real good taught me a lot about milling .... the over spray was hell to clean off ...im doing a hog and deep 6 for classes soon and maybe a scuba pro and Sherwood brut

@abnfrong How long ago did you modify those regulators for Alec? From the advertisement I assumed they were near state of the art when they were made into cutaways.

I think it was over 20 years ago but it seems he had those done by someone else , im looking at doing a mk 20 deep 6 and hog regs so that could be considered state of the art now ..... and when I did them they were not my regs they were given to me by someone else

Uh, Nope! These were made for me by a personal friend, a machinist, many years ago, to my specifications.
I sold the two 2 Hose models I had.
These have been used many, many times in my very popular Equipment Classes.
I have no use for them now so, on they go.

legacy AND provenance. cool.

It has been established beyond a doubt that @abnfrog did not produced Alexs -@seahunters - cut a way equipment :

(and @abnfrog certainly did not produce mine 60 years ago)

Some how,,,,, some way,,,,our own @herman the current cut a way specialist has remained silent on historical and now modern Cut A Ways --- Why ?
Hombre this is your chance to shine and promote your version of the modern Cut A Way
the creation of a cottage industry in these difficult times in which we currently find ourselves

I am going to walk my dog on the beach in the early morning warm California sunlight

A trilogy to enlighten you on Cut a ways

You're right about that. Not only does he make excellent cutaways-he also incorporates ideas like a lighter spring so the internal components can be moved by hand.

I said I THOUGHT I made some that looked like them ...... I did a bunch in the early 80s . maybe it was just the red looking paint ..... that they looked familiar and I know alec buys old gear so it was possible he bought them from the other instructor ....., a lot of huff just to prove me wrong , big deal...... and I never said I made yours sam !
