In the past several days I’ve visited a few more of my favorite local sites for the first time since Irma shook up our little corner of the world.
Tenneco Towers shallow and middle; Both unscathed structurally, and holding most of their encrustation. Shallow site was covered with sand and silt, while the middle site was cleaner in comparison.
Doc de Milley: About 25 miles south of Government Cut, and a site that though I relish, is one that I only get to dive a few times a year: Bow section is a bit more broken up, and moved several yards from the stern. Stern is now listing more markedly to the starboard. I was first one in and diving a CCR, so am the only one who got to visit with as large a Goliath Grouper as I could hope to see. Arrival of bubble blowers caused the GG move away. Coral encrustation looked quite healthy, but lots of the sponges have been broken or sheared away.
