my buddy has asked me to escort him and his FL relatives on a cold water dive in northern OH....we haven't picked a place yet.

jbd might be interested in diving during the week.....he is a little goofy though.....

staying when you get to Dale Hollow?. How much gear are you thinking of hauling? Would you be up for a few dives in the afternoon?

Well,

I have two LP95s and am hoping that I can get fills somewhere there as well; I figure I'll need my dry suit even though air temps will be pretty high; I'll bring my whole rig consisting of a stainless steel BP and wing, masks, fins, lights, etc. I wasn't planning on bringing all of my spare gear, cause it just won't fit in the van.

I am definitely interested in diving whenever we can get together. If afternoons work best for you, I'll make that work. Remember, I'm on vacation, so schedules are loose.

I'm not sure about access to the dive sites there. Are they boat or shore access? If boat, I'll need to figure that out ahead of time. My bottom line is I want to get as many dives in as I can without getting tossed out of the family reunion. I'm sure I could do at least two if not three sets of two dives during the week.

Oh yeah, I'll be staying at the Eagle Cove resort: http://www.hollycreek.com/

Hope to see you there jbd, and others if you're in to it...

so is jbd....

I'm going to Dale Hollow for a weekend in mid-Aug. Your won't be there then will you? But I'm not planning on going far below the thermocline. To cold and not enough visibility for me. I would rather stay at 25 ft. and see a little farther and be a little warmer.

My dive buddy and I mostly dive Cumberland, but have been wanting to get down to Dale Hollow this summer. We only live about 65 to 70 miles away and might be able to go on Sunday the 13th. If your interested let me know and I'll try to work out a specific time and place to meet.

I think that early afternoon would work best for me, but I'll always get up early to go diving, so if you would rather do early morning, that could work too. Send me a PM with more details if you're interested, like a cell phone number if you've got one.

Hopefully see you soon for some diving...

I'll do that. Just a quick lake report. Went diving yesterday and as I expected the lake was packed with the sounds of freedom as everyone was celebrating our Independance day; or that might have just been the screams of some local good'ol boys celebrating the ladies in their bikinis, whichever it was full. We couldn't dive our favorite spot because of the boat traffic so we traveled up the lake about a half mile. Visibility was 8 to 12 ft and the surface temp was around 80 degrees. Our max depth on this dive was 73ft. and the water temp at this depth was around 64 degrees. I was sporting a full 7mm wet suit and at depth the cool water made for a great dive. We didn't plan on a second dive, but somebody ;-0 me; lost my back-up dive mask which became my primary when the lens popped out of my primary. Anyway, to make a long story short we went back down to find the mask to no avail. We hit a muddy bottom at 73ft and visibility went from 8 to 12 ft to 0ft in just a couple of seconds. We stayed down a while feeling our way along the muddy bottom, but had to end the day minus one mask. Other than that it was a great day of diving.

I'll be there this week. Packing stuff to dive wet or dry, but I'm thinking that I'll be diving dry. jbd, if you're out there, for some strange reason I can't see messages that I have sent, although I can see that I sent them. Send me a PM with contact info when you can. I'll check when I get there if I can get connectivity.

Ky-Dwn-Under, I'm not sure if we got confused on dates or not. I'll be at the lake from 7/12 through 7/19 with the 13th through the 18th good for diving. I've got your phone number and will try you when I get there.

Anybody else who might want to dive this lake this week, speak now, please. I'm thinking that I might be packing all of this stuff for nothing!

Hmmm...I might have to take up solo diving...
