Dedicated phone for Sealife SportDiver?

Santa is considering bringing my dad a new phone for his SportDiver housing. He doesn't use his primary phone for diving and the old phone he has been using is starting to have bad battery life. He loves the SportDiver. Does anyone have a phone that they really like for it and that hopefully can be bought at a reasonable price without a plan?

Can you get the battery replaced in his old phone?

Just use the primary phone, keep the old one as a back up phone.
