"Northwest Airlines' Checked Luggage Policy has changed. For travel within the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean on or after December 15, 2002, checked luggage weighing over 50 pounds up to 70 pounds will be assessed $25 USD / $39 CAD and luggage weighing over 70 pounds up to 100 pounds will be assessed $50 USD / $77 CAD. Luggage weighing over 100 pounds will not be accepted as checked luggage. The free luggage quantity allowance policy remains the same; two pieces of checked luggage each not exceeding 62 linear inches (length plus width plus height) and one carry on that fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

-Avoid wrapping your holiday gifts prior to travel. Due to airport security measures, passengers will likely be asked by airport security to unwrap and open all packages."

Guess this means splitting up dive gear and clothing into two bags.
