If you have the bucks, go for Canouan. It's the only place in SVG with a casino AFAIK, and your wife will have lots of opportunites to spend your money while you're submerged. Bequia is pretty cool too, but no casino and definitely much more laid-back than Canouan. When my wife couldn't take the sailboat anymore, we decamped to the Frangipani Hotel for a few days. If the Plantation House is open, that sounds good too. If you have a problem with whaling though, maybe you ought to skip Bequia. They get all riled to go work on their annual quota of four whales whenver the whales pass through the area - when they get one, it's an island holiday.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I originally wanted to go to Canouan, but the cheapest room I found was 750 a night all the way up to 2100 a night. I found these spots on Canouan's website. It doesn't seem like there is much choice on places to stay. Is there anyplace that you can recommend?

Well, the good news is that it's a lot cheaper than rooms on Mustique the prices there were uh, stunning. Try Raffles or the Tamarind on Canouan. I couldn't stay at anything with "Trump" in it if they paid me. I never landed on the island so I don't know what they have in the town itself, although there is a huge sailboat charter fleet there.
The island of St. Vincent itself didn't look all that bad either. The eastern part of it is pretty much off limits due to the ganja trade, but it's a big island. Resorts there tend to run a little high, but hey, they're pretty nice. We ran into someone who was having dinner at Young Island and they had Keira Knightly sitting at the next table while she was filming Pirates of the Caribbean.

For bang-for-the-buck though, you can't beat Bequia. I could live there without a whole lot of arm twisting. Just make sure you go through Barbados to SVG instead of how we did it with free airline tickets. It's tough doing it through St. Lucia.

Canouan island is GORGEOUS! Utterly unspoilt jewel of the Grenadines! I did my open water there at Tamarind Beach Hotel, and that experience is the reason why I am now taking up diving full time. I am even trying to get myself a job at the dive shop at Tamarind for this winter, so look out for me :)
