Seriously, (ok, I'm not known for it, but just ride with it for now) how many days and when? I'd consider driving up and would be willing to pick up a DB or two on my way from Cincinnati to Cape Breton.

Where do I get my Eh! dictionary, eh? I like to learn the local language and culture, eh.

You have the right idea, to drive up. I was thinking a Saturday to Saturday thing, with Wednesday as a kind of float day in case of inclement weather (which we NEVER have here, and besides if we do, wait five minutes and it will change . . .), where you spend the entire day at the Fortress (you have to, it takes all day to see and appreciate it all).
