Divemaster Course in Sabah?

Hello all...

I am considering doing my Divemaster course in Sabah, in April / May / June 2013. Can anyone recommend a good shop with accommodation? I am looking for a fun, accommodating place with plenty of relaxed people around. Where I can take my time and hang out etc.

Also, I have never been to Sabah before. Are the dive areas lively places or quite quiet? I am travelling alone so would prefer a place with a bit of nightlife and other things to do during the day so I can have a break from diving as well.

Any tips of recommendations or personal experiences shared would be much appreciated.

Congrats first of all of wanting to take the first step to becoming a PADI Dive Professional.

I am sharing feedback on PADI Divemaster Internships in Sabah based on running a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (Borneo Dream).

There are three types of location in Sabah where PADI Operators will be located - Kota Kinabalu (capital city on the west coast), Semporna (town on the south east coast used to assess Mabul & Sipadan) and then at Dive Centres on island Resorts generally located near Sipadan (Mabul and other nearby islands). These locations will offer very different styles of PADI Divemaster Internship. You can get a list of PADI Operators located in Sabah at these locations on padi.com - you will also find contact details for each PADI Operator here too (easy!).

You then need to choose a PADI Operator who can best meet your needs, especially as you'll want a centre and team that help you develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to be a Dive Professional role model. All PADI centres will be working to the same PADI standards for the PADI Divemaster course / internship. What differs is how your internship will be conducted and personalised for you, and how it feels to work as part of the dive centre team. I'd suggest you check out the web sites for PADI Operators in Sabah and contact those who you feel could best meet your needs. The way they respond will quickly help you choose the best dive operator for you.
