MODERATOR: Please change title on this thread to indicate this is a CURRENT 2012 event.
Thanks!!
Divers Night 2012 is Thursday, Nov 1!!
It originated in Norway & it's been a lot of fun. Divers Night under the ice in 2010 was brilliant & beatiful, but too many wussie lightweights cancelled instead of going out & enjoying it, so now the event is held a month earlier. Less ice but still good fun!
The idea is that at every dive site all participants are to be underwater at 20:12 (get it? 20:12 in 2012) that's 8:12 PM local time. NOTE: LOCAL time, no time zones no GMT, no daylight savings, none of those things matter because we're talking LOCAL time.

DIVERSNIGHT 2012 Summer is officially over, at least here in the Nordic countries. Its getting colder and darker- but that only means Diversnight is not far away.
It will be some changes this year with registration and prizes.
Because this wonderful event has grown so much, it is not possible for us to organize everything. But we do encourage our dive clubs and shops to arrange this night and maybe do something special for the local divers.
Information about registration etc will be in Facebook soon. For the moment spread the word and ask everyone to participate!

This year we WILL break the record from 2009-
We were 2749 divers on 218 dive sites in 20 countries.
It does not matter if you are a big dive club in Norway or a couple of Divers on a sailboat in the Caribbean
But what matters is that you plan to be under water November 1. 2012 at 20:12
Get your club to arrange a social evening of night diving and cake.
THE REGISTRATION FORM CLOSES OCTOBER 31st 22:00 CET
(CET is Central European Time = 2 PM EST Eastern Standard Time)
Registration closes Oct 31 at 2 PM Eastern Standard Time!
Register in time so you can participate!!
The 8th annual Diversnight event will take place in November 1rd at locations all over the world! The date is now changed one month earlier in order to avoid weather related problems especially in the Nordic countries. In 2010 we had a great number of dive locations covered with ice and the temperature was even down to –20 °C.
Diversnight is a free-of-charge gathering and is made possible thanks to voluntary work and helpful sponsors.
Diversnight is a social event, well known for example for the excellent cakes (especially a Norwegian Diversnight tradition) and great prizes.
Diversnight is a great way to show the public and potential divers how diving is not only a hobby for sunny and warm days. It is also way to get divers from different clubs and countries making something BIG together
