... you cannot help but wonder if men go to the tropics to be WITH women and the ones that are tech diving, go to get AWAY from women.

LOL. I am sure that is the case for some. But I suspect that for most it is pushing themselves and their abilities beyond the norm.

actually, i am probably safer in a cave than you are in OW due to the
redundancy built into cave diving




well, it is a lot of work. but if i enjoy it, so what? the rewards are
worth it.

if it's too much work for you, you don't have to do it. nobody's going to
force you to do it, you know.

and here i am, diving with two female cave buddies...

hey, Jean, i'm sorry, i can't dive with you tomorrow... you're a chick!
(and Madeline, nice diving with you... but... gotta get away!)

and dang it... every time i get to a cave there's usually one or two female
cave divers with another team there... dang!!! gotta drive them off too...

I know nobody is forcing me, I never said they were. As far as you being safer....so far I have not had a near death experience in a puddle. (wink back)

"Brokeback" has already made it into the vernacular language of the Marine Corp, just so you know!...they say "hey that was really brokeback of you".

there are women divers in the WKPP, among them, Chickdiver on here
(though she hasn't been around for a while)

now, they are in the minority, that's true

For those of you who are cave divers and gear up in such a way as the original post suggests, that's awesome. I will most likely never take up serious cave diving and explore miles underground etc, but for those of you who do that, I tip my cap to you and I have to imagine that "FUN" would be an understatement for what you experience!!

Keep doing what you do, and take lots of pictures
