I like to dive maui, minnesota diving is just plain cold!!! The vis is great,the water is warm, lots of turtles and stuff!! It sounds like maui is more "beginner friendly" as there is more shallow diving available. This might be a consideration as I don't know your comfort level with depth, you have to make the call.
