Uncle Pug:Sometimes it's best to ask first... without touching.
As a short primer on parking lot dive etiquette I offer the following anecdote from yesterday.
While standing at the back of my P/U after our first dive a fellow who had parked next to me struck up a converstation. I like conversations and he seemed to be a nice sort.
I noticed he was wearing the same brand drysuit that I was... and I also noticed that he noticed a small difference in mine.
Before I could defend my honor he moved in close and took a hold of my *bolt* bare handed and asked me what it was.
I showed him.
So... the moral of the story is: "Ask, but don't touch."
rustyscubatool:OW! OW! OW! Stomach hurts!
Reminds me of a prank that we'd pull on the newbies in the Service. Some, but not all, of a particular type of aircraft we'd get in once in a while for maintenance would have a pilot's relief-tube with an overboard vent-fitting. We always made sure to escort one of the 'uninitiated' out to the plane and inform them that the vent had been written-up by the pilot as being clogged, and caused fluctuating air-speed readings.
Naturally, there was no specific tool to use to unclog it, so we'd tell them all they needed to do was simply blow in the end while we monitored the pressure-gauge from inside the cockpit.
And then we'd give them the honor of getting to do it to the next unsuspecting dweeb.
Yessireeee, your tax-dollars at work.
