so far never happened. in the event, we have a standby tank at 20ft hovering us. now this is part of the dive plan we do. we don't do this on overhangs.

but the "last third" is supposed to be for an OOA diver, right? so in worst case if a diver goes OOA after using exactly 1/3 and has to air share back to where you entered the water, you will be surfacing on basically empty tanks (assuming you subtract the amount of gas needed to get to the surface from the available gas *before* you calculated thirds)

The only real way to get weighting right is empty (or 2-300 psi) tanks and empty BC.

Naw....Plan your configuration as if nothing will every go wrong, and then dangle some equipment around some place....just in case....LOL

I think we need to revisit the spare air bandoleer idea again.
