I bought some Polartec stuff from here. It has worked well and is not expensive at all.

Only about 4 to 6 lbs. of lead.
I wear REI expedition weight long underwear under my Bare neoprene suit. Keeps me warm in 34 degree water.
I don't remember what I paid for it... maybe $40?

I run with a set of Patagonia long johns, heavy weight top & medium weight bottom (they were out of heavy weight bottom, but figured the top was most important),I top that with their (Patagonia)expedition weight fleese. This is under a old bi-lam Whites drysuit.
Just using a single pair of wool socks in attached boots.
I was in a quarry yesterday with water temp of 43 degrees, I just had on wetsuit style 3mm gloves & a good Mares hood from my Semi-dry & my fingers were starting to get cold after 35 min.
Total cost of about $120 for undies.
