Nice! Keep reinforcing that she needs to take as much time was she needs, because it's not worth it to rush. The first 15 feet or so can be really frustrating, I know, but after that it gets easier as you go down. I bet she'll get better and better with practice.

If it was actually water in your outer ear, it would dry up within a day or so. You more likely have barotrauma in your ear in this case, which can feel and sound like water in your ear for a week or so.

This is very true. When I was young, I had no trouble equalizing. When I got older, (55+) I kept thinking that my ears were filling with water from the outside. Turns out it was mild barotrauma from trying too hard to equalize. Once I learned out to equalize properly, I no longer got that "full" feeling after diving.

Also, you should go to an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist (ENT) next time this happens, to make sure that's what it is.
Took almost two weeks for mine to clear. In hindsight I think I know where I did it and I probably shouldn't have kept diving for 3 days afterwards..
Think I equalized "too hard" on a dive. When I got back home and it didn't clear in a couple of days of washing my ear (I figured it was a wax clot as there was no form pain or discomfort other than the sound) I went to the doc who had a look and told me to stay out of the water for a couple of weeks and try to keep the air dry to avoid infections...
