Hi all
I'm a beginner underwater photography ( mainly nudi branch and small critter photos). After sometime, i have decided to invest into some proper equipment. I would like to keep the cost down as much as possible while still keep the quality necessary ( not expected super quality for pro)
So i got 2 quote from 2 separate LDS ( in AUD) :
  1. First LDS - well known, 1st tier
  • Aquatica +10 len = 285+GST
  • Ikelite dual tray handle = 125 +GST
  • DS51 package : DS51 + 2x 7' Ikelite mark II arm 1' ball + 3 clamps + quick release handle + TTL syncord = 910+GST
  • Total + GST : 1475$
  1. Second LDS - less well known - 2nd or 3rd tier ( arms, clamps are all third party from china called Bubble scuba) price included GST
  • Aquatica len +10 = 313
  • Flex Double handle with ball Tray $160
  • Flat Clamp x2 $64 3.
  • Big angle 60C angle clamp x2 $68
  • Sea arm ulsc 6" x2 $76 5.
  • Sea arm ulsc 8" x2 $90 6.
  • YS ball Ultralight long Adaptor 3.3" x2 $48
  • => Total for arms and clamps : 506 7.
  • Strobe INON Type 4, Z240 $799 + Z ball arm strobes Adaptor
  • Cables Adapter For INON Type 4 (can use sea&sea cable) $15
  • L connector and sea&sea cable $45
  • Total : 1680$
So my question is :
Which one should i go for as a beginner ?
Third party arm and ball quality and live?
Should i sacrifice the quality of the arms and clamp to trade for a better strobe ?
Is the TTL an important feature? Would there be any lag time in comparison of ikelite strobe and inon strobe on ikelite housing ?

If these above not clear to give advice, please feel free to ask me any questions.
