With the closing or Rock Lake, I am searching for best alternatives for technical diving instruction. One option is Flaming Gorge. I hear it has plenty of depth, but not great supporting infrastructure. I would appreciate any information people may have, including access, water temperatures, seasonal changes, thermoclines, etc.

I don't know about Flaming Gorge, but I have wondered about Blue Mesa when I've fished there. It has plenty of depth and supposedly some ruins from small towns that were flooded.

High Plains Scuba has a group trip planned to Flaming Gorge. They might be able to help with some of the info you're looking for.

Edit: I though I saw that Rock Lake is still going to be open for a while in a different post but never hurts to have a plan B.

Yes, Rock Lake is still open. but with very limited access. I am still open to alternatives.
