"Flying the Line"

Like everybody else, I hold onto the line in heavy weather or currents when I am afraid to be taken clean away from it by current, otherwise it's "Hold the line? You have GOT to be kidding, right?"
 
... to see novice divers using the line to travel with.

I wrote this statement/question with the novice diver in mind. It is something I observe regularly on charter expeditions where a shot line is in use. That is not to preclude the seasoned individual, though the incidence of their "choking the rope" is, in my observation, a significantly lesser occurrence.

Many of you on this board rarely use a shot line, thus I understand your disbelief...

...yet, should I encourage but one diver to "try-to-fly" by this thread, I believe my efforts to be rewarded.
