Free Global Underwater Explorers Seminar & Demo Day
"Discover GUE"

Lead by GUE Instructors Ed Hayes and George Bouloukos
Hosted by PG Dive, Newton, MA

Are you curious about GUE or the DIR philosophy and equipment configuration, but not quite ready to take the next step? Are you interested in the backplate and wing setup but looking for a chance to try out the gear, feel what it's like in the water and see it in action? Diving is all about having fun, so come and see one of the most exciting ways to have more of it as well as improve your comfort, confidence and control in the water - with the great gear we have to give away you might take something home as well!

12 years old to 80+... Male or female... New diver or instructor... you are welcome!

Our passion is diving! Our end result is FUN. This is our message for this event. We obtain all this by creating competent, confident, comfortable, divers.

This seminar will be geared to the recreational side of diving, with an explanation of where GUE and all our diving develops. This event is an avenue to instill a new passion for diving and the education experience and equipment needed to have so much more fun with this sport.

Outline
At the GUE Seminar & Demo Day, you'll have the opportunity to find out what "DIR" really means and what GUE is all about. We will touch on the fundamentals of GUE/DIR such as skills and procedures, equipment considerations and team diving. You'll also be able to dive a full set up of GUE standard equipment.

After a quick introduction and briefing, we'll get ready for diving. You will be custom fitted to a back plate and wing, and outfitted with tank, regulator and fins. (If you have your own gear, we can check your fit, hose routing, etc.) You will then have the opportunity to dive the gear. You can receive guidance in small groups from a GUE instructor to improve your buoyancy, stability and mobility in the water.

After lunch, we'll be reviewing the video from the pool and continuing the morning’s discussions at PG Dive in Newton. With two GUE instructors in attendance, there is plenty of opportunity to have any of your questions on equipment, philosophy and training.

Whether you enjoy reef diving on a single tank, or deep wreck or cave diving with mixed gases, come see how GUE and DIR diving can help make you a more confident, competent and comfortable diver....and ultimately allow you to have more fun and adventure.

Things to Bring
• Basic scuba equipment including mask, open heel fins, tank, exposure protection (wetsuit or drysuit), wetsuit booties.
• Diver certification card and credit card or license for equipment deposit.
• Cameras are a great idea. We will be happy to take pictures of you and your friends.

Advance Registration
There is no cost to attend, however advance registration is required for this event.

For anyone wanting to actually see and talk with local GUE/DIR divers, this is a great opportunity. I've taken a GUE class with both instructors, and they're great divers, wonderful educators, and a lot of fun both below and above the water. If you're free that Sunday, I encourage you to come see what GUE/DIR has to offer recreational divers in NE.

Does this mean PG Dive teaches GUE classes?

PG Dive is graciously hosting the event. Right now there are only three GUE instructors based in the Northeast (Bob Sherwood, Ed Hayes and George Bouloukos). While none are based in MA, they dive off Cape Ann regularly and they will teach classes up here. Contact them directly to arrange for classes.

For those attending, tanks will be provided by the demo, so if you're planning on bring your rig, no need to schlep the tank.

Of course, only need to bring along your personal gear, rest is provided.

Hi all

We've had a number of people sign up. PM or send me an email at paul@pgdive.com if your planning to come.

Thanks

Paul

Is anyone around Lowell selling Halcyon? Or are there any DIR dive clubs in the area?

Still time to sign up for this free demo & seminar by calling PG Dive at 617-969-3483.
Also, we're going to have some great gear to give away generously donated by Scuba Shack, Halcyon & GUE.
