I put them in a large duffel, then sit upstairs for 10+ hrs eating airline food and dozing thru B Grade movies.

Were you worried about damage due to flexion? Pack the duffel snuggly, they will likely be torqued more in actual dive use.

A very lightweight “stiffener” for protecting anything can be fashioned from sheets of Coroplast. If you’re real concerned, use two layers offset by 90 degrees- like armor but no weight.

Coroplast is a magical material. Sign shops sell it, Walmart, too.
