Everybody, thank you for all the info, we are really looking forward to our trip down!! Hopefully the weather is good for that week. We've got the Spirgel booked for two trips that week also.
 
What kind of a boat do you have?

Also, much of the diving in Ft Lauderdale is done via drifting b/c of the currents - if you have someone to drive the boat and a flag so they can follow you, you are almost unlimited in where you can dive.
 
Chris - I found a booklet (written & printed oppose to published) called 'Beach Diving and Snorkeling Locations;' there is also a 'Diving Locations' or 'Diving ???' version that is not limited to shore entry sites. I'd provide a link but this thing just doesn't exist outside a couple dive shops (again, I believe it's just some local guy). The known closest location to your hotel is 9 miles, so PM me if you want more info.
