what Jim said. You lose buoyancy in the suit at depth, true, but in a wing failure, you should be able to kick it up off the bottom. Call the guys at DRiS, they wouldn't have chosen a 28lb wing if it wasn't enough for deep cold water diving which is basically all they do...
 
look at the DRiS Trianta wing, call Mike and talk to him, you'll save some money and have a much better CS experience.

Ssooo... would you need the STA with that? When/why would you need one? -- best I can figure out it's if there isn't enough room between the plate and the cylinder, but how do you tell?

Edit: oh , wait: the picture looks like there's no slots, so you'll need the STA with this one, correct?
 
yes, that wing is not designed for use without an STA. Has nothing to do with the room between the plate and cylinder, everything to do with how the wing is designed and whether your backplate has cam band slots or not...
