Divetech has kids programs from ages 5 - 7 called Turtles and use a SASY unit where the BC is like a life jacket but the kids have a tank, reg and pressure gauge and will graduate to ocean adventures. Then Divetech's 8-9 year olds are called PADI seals or SSI rangers, here they learn to dive to 15' in full dive gear. The kids have missions to master in the pool before they can go in the ocean and then to Stingray City as a graduation. They also run the normal junior open water, ages 10 and up. The certified teen divers will have a blast in Advance Open water, photo course or underwater scooter dives. Something for everybody.

This Thanksgiving 2011 Divetech has a Kids Sea Camp running at Cobalt Coast Dive Resort for the week. The parents go diving on the boats with the other parents while the kids are learning to dive with other kids there own age. There are scheduled night dives and wreck dives for both kids and parents during the week.

Instead of a normal 2 tank boat trip where you get a deep wall for the 1st dive and shallow dive for the 2nd, Divetech will run a special 2 tank boat trip with double shallows for children that have depth limitations to their certifications.

Does anyone have a favorite dive operator in Grand Cayman for diving with children?
Serious divers give good marks to the Cobalt Coast Resort, its dive operator, Divetech, and the Sea Camp it offers in the summer, where kids can be attended to while parents dive. Scott George (Long Beach, CA) was there in July and said, "Cobalt Coast is a wonderful, small resort on Grand Cayman's northwest coast. The rooms were nice and spacious, and the food was excellent. The Divetech staff was very organized, had excellent facilities, was personable and knowledgeable, and promoted a strong sense of safety while allowing every diver to dive his own profile. I was surprised at how outstanding the condition of the reef was - - very large coral formations were everywhere, and fish life was abundant. Turtles were always around, and we did see a number or rays and several types of eel. Kids Sea Camp was well run. The activities were well organized and the supervision was excellent. The staff knows children well, and I was especially impressed at how well they were able to teach the young ones to be comfortable with a mask and snorkel while also being able to handle young teenagers."
