The only place you can cage dive with great white sharks in the US is at San Francisco's Farallon Islands. Incredible Adventures, the company based in Florida and not the company based in California with a similar name, offers one day trips departing from San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf and two-day, liveaboard expeditions that depart from Sausalito. (cagediver.com)

If you've got the time and money, the company recommends you do a multi-day liveaboard adventure to Isla Guadalupe. The five-day shark adventures depart from San Diego (actually you take a bus from San Diego to the boat in Ensenada). You travel 20 or so hours to where the water is clear and the sharks are plentiful.

The least expensive great white shark dives are offered in South Africa...but you've got to get there!

For more of the trips, no dive certification is necessary. Hookah diving is done.
