Hello ScubaBoard! I'm Rubixcube, I,m 15 and although I am not certified yet (problems equalizing that I'm trying to fix) I cant wait to get in the water. Both my father and older brother are recently certified, which is part of the reason I'm learning to dive. I look forward to both a life of diving and reading these forums!

Welcome aboard! I hope you can get your ear problems sorted out. A visit to a GP might help to see whats up. Good luck with it.

The one thing to remember when you have trouble equalizing is - s l o w d o w n - I have had trouble in the past equalizing and when I remembered to make my decent like an ascent with slow "bubble speed" decents and even some stops, it made all the diffference in the world. Hope it helps to go slow and equalize often. Dive safe.

I had trouble equalizing. I contacted DAN and they recommended an ENT doc at Mercy Hospital who told me to use Afrin before I dove. Worked like a charm. Now I use it starting a day before each time I dive.
