jerry1818. . . welcome to ScubaBoard, and to Oklahoma diving. We try to predict the future weather, by what the weather and diving conditions have been like in the past. Right now we are having our third heavy snow fall of this season, and pushing for an all time record snow fall for the winter. With that caveat, we "normally" have a dry winter, without much wind, and the lakes clear up from the bottom to top. Tenkiller often will have 30 feet of visibility, and sometimes better around the cliffs in the lower end of the lake.
Water temperatures will favor a dry suit or a layered 7 mm full suit with hood and gloves. There are a number of places at Tenkiller to dive right out of the back of your car. . . better dive places available to boats, and like all winter diving everywhere, you must be prepared to dry off and warm up immediately after the dive.
Because you'll be in the Norman area, day trips south on I-35 to Lake Murray, shore diving near the dam are enjoyable. Another destination from Norman would take the new H.E. Bailey bypass, just past the casino entrance, south west to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge, just north of Ft Sill and Lawton. Elmer Thomas lake is at the foot of Mt Scott and just inside the entrance to the Wildlife Refuge. There is shore diving from several day use areas.
Diving conditions are easy, visibility is often very good, and local conditions are available by calling any of the Oklahoma City, Norman dive shops. Any chance to "Blow Bubbles" is a good chance.
