for macro and whalesharks, try Sogod Bay. A couple of us have stayed at sogod bay scuba resort. Simple but nice.

Hi Chip, cheers.. the website looks nice. What would you say the chances of us seeing whalesharks over New Year would be? We would stay around a week and do 2-5 dives a day.

Also, what other cool stuff is around? As I said, I love macro critters but I need to sell my travelling party - big schools, sharks, turtles, dolphins all go down well with them - any resident in Sogod Bay?

Geoff, we were there last Feb but we didn't see any, some did (those staying in another resort). We're going back on Dec 26-30, 08.

Oooh I might see you there then, sell me on what else is good to see! :)

Ta! I had a read through, shame the pictures are gone. It's looking like three options currently:

Victory Divers (Panagatan & Apo)
Sea Explorers (itinerity pending)
Sogod

The first two are checking whether our dates are compatible with the liveaboards/island hopping and Sogod looks like an awesome backup choice.... how many of the PPD will be there over NY?

Nooo.... I can't find any flight (Tokyo to Manila) for less than 1,600 USD.... this is crazy! And these are non-direct flights too :( I've tried the major agents and the airlines websites directly and nothing looks at all promising....
