Before my next dive trip (June) I'd like to expand into the world of video.

1. What's a good way to begin? It doesn't have to be a budget outfit, but I don't want to jump in with anything too complicated either.

2. Where are good places to buy video equipment and appropriate housings? Surely I can find the cameras at many of the local electronic chains, but where are good selections of housings?

Thanks for the help.

Here's a recent post answering this exact question.

Dealers:

www.bhphotovideo.com
www.reefphotovideo.com
www.H2OPhotopros.com
www.backscatter.com
www.adorama.com

I'm not sure you'll find very many housings displayed anywhere - maybe at H20Photo, Reef or Backscatter.

Housing manufacturers list. Most have links to their dealers also:

If you can define a budget and what you expect to be able to do for it - i.e. camera/housing/lights etc, I can make more targeted suggestions...

Hi,

I'd definitelty try H2oPhotoPros, they really know what they are talking about and stock all the latest housings and a few cameras. They also have a great deal on a JVC & Ikelite housing combo, worth checking out for sure.

They also sponsor a great new diving videos website so be sure to post your new videos there when you get back! It's free to watch & upload all your scuba diving videos - www.theaquaplanet.com

You can find them here www.h2ophotopros.com
