herman sounds like a great idea, while i'm just getting my cert. I plan on taking alot of the other lessons to. i also want to take the spear fishing class because as avid a fisherman as i am i still have days were i just want to jump off the boat and shoot the damn things.

I enjoy a good day of fishing as well. I do most of my UW hunting with a camera but do my fair share of fishing from the boat. I would suggest you spend some time just diving before taking a spear gun along. It's wayyyy to easy to get caught up in the hunt and forget some of the less important things like how much air you have remaining.
It will take a quite a few dives until your dive and buddy skills are second nature and you are really comfortable under the water.
I have a fish fryer at the beach house and I'm not afraid to use it!
