Welcome to the board from Lakewood CA. You are blessed to live in a dive destination with lots of terrific diving in Malibu, Palos Verde and Laguna Beach just a short hour and a half or so drive from Diamond Bar.

May I suggest http://www.sandeaters.org not a dive club, just a website with a dive planned for every Sunday. No dues, no membership, just diving. Also the Scubaboard SoCal section is a great place to hang out and read recent dive reports and discuss local issues. They do the monthly Wrinkles beach dive (named after a lovely lady who one days said, "lets all get together".

Beach diving is highly recommended here as affordable (cost a little gasoline and a tank or two of air) way to dive every week, or more. It also has the benifit of keeping you in shape and getting you into shape as most dives will involve a bit of a hike in full gear down and up hills (or cliffs).

I frequently dive with newer divers. It is fun to watch as they see their first octopus and other things and to share again the wonder of those new to diving. If you ask in the SoCal section, I bet you can find a local diver who will join you as you embark on your great adventure called diving. Unfortunalty, I am leaving shortly on a "vacation" and will not be diving until late 2007.
