fwiw - I found that looping it under my knife (in the center of my torso on the waist band) instead of under my can light takes up about 6" more... it's actually too tight for me to do that - deployment does not change, you just reach in front instead of on the side. I have tried tucking it into my waist strap and it doesn't work for me... keeps coming out during the dive. Under the knife is too tight, but can light is just right.

Okay, I will say it more clearly. This is a stroke solution. The proper DIR answer is to use the 7' hose and tuck in the waistband if needed.

Quite funny as a GUE instructor recommended this and he did the same thing as he's somewhat vertically challenged...

I tend to agree that the solution sucks.... It's been proven time and again that even GUE instructors can come up with non DIR solutions that later get corrected by the higher ups.
