Probably needs someone from an insurance company to give some data.
My life insurance provider does not care about the fact that I dive, but if I was mountain climbing or parachute jumping I would not be covered.
This suggest they don't consider diving all that risky, statistically speaking
 
Yeah unfortunately there is an Accidents and Incidents forum but not a Non-Incidents forum for comparison where every non-incident dive gets logged.
 
It's a sport that requires risk management with the ultimate risk of death.

I agree that we must be very good at managing the risk we take to avoid injury or death. We mitigate the risk by maintaining our gear in good working condition, practicing our skills, remaining in good physical condition, diving with buddies.....just to name a few...and the list goes on.

To think that entering an environment that requires a life supporting aide such as a S.C.U.B.A. not dangerous is a little foolish. :vintagediver::vintagediver:
