just clip it. my housing has a an attached strap, so i use a climbing carabiner to attach the camera on my shoulder strap's d ring. its easy to unclip if your climbing the boat and for emergency

Quick-release coil lanyard ... Richard takes some pictures ... I take some pictures ... Richard edits the pictures ... we I.D. fish in the pictures ... rinse, repeat....
