seems like your prob's the tendency to breath through your nose when there's nothing in front of it (like when you remove your mask)... i took my ability to switch from nose to mouth breathing for granted until i saw people having a little more difficulty with it... it turned out i was the abnormal one

practice is definitely the key, but it might be also your apprehensions...

relax... do it slowly... don't be conscious of your movements... mammals have a natural tendency to hold their breath automatically when the face is submerged in water, allow instinct to carry over...

you can do it! we need you in the water! we believe in you!

Welcome to the board and don't worry it takes a while to get past that hurdle for some people.. I had the same problems at first but with patience and time I got past it.
