You just reduced my opinion of your skill 100%. While you're right about the need to lube an oring that is just a "squeeze' fit ( the one on the valve to reg connection is an example ), they are sometimes lubed just to hold them in place for assembly. However,orings that screw in do require lube, the fact that it does not move once installed is irrelevant! It moves relative to its mating surfaces as it's installed. what can happen is the rubber does not mate to the surface evenly and 'folds' causeing a weak point or a out and out leak.
