At least your significant other dives ! Jokes aside I would go out of my way to explain to him/her the repurcussions of what could have happened. Were you on a trip? Perhaps walk him/her through what would have happened had you needded to be evacuated for treatment

make him/her understand. I always tell my loved ones that "actions have consequnces". i cant think of any place where this is more applicable than under water.
