Aloha,

In celebration of its 35th anniversary, SEASPACE is partnering with
the Houston Museum of Natural Science to showcase the Houston premier
of a new IMAX film "Coral Reef Adventure." The work of acclaimed
cinematographers Howard and Michele Hall, "Coral Reef Adventure" takes
viewers on a wide-screen tour of the islands and coral reefs of the
South Pacific.

Known as the finest adventure exposition in the southwest USA,
SEASPACE combines exotic travel, adventure sports, scuba diving and a
host of related outdoor activities. Held in Reliant Center over the
weekend of June 5-6, SEASPACE 2004 will feature over 200 booths and
exhibits for the outdoor sports and travel enthusiast, as well as a
host of seminars that both entertain and educate.

"We are very excited to work with the Houston Museum of Natural
Science to have this incredible IMAX movie make its Houston premiere
during SEASPACE 2004," said Ken Knezick, Executive Director of
SEASPACE. "The 46-minute film tells an amazing story about the
underwater world of coral reefs where some of the planet's most
diverse, fascinating and mysterious landscapes and creatures exist,
hidden from human sight. Yet it also explores the delicate ecosystem
of coral reefs and how many are in decline. The icing on the cake is
that Howard & Michele Hall will be here to explain the making of the
film for our audiences."

SEASPACE 2004 offers many other attractions for the young, and the
young at heart. A huge swimming pool in the Exhibit Hall enables
those who wish to "get their feet wet" with a Free Introduction to
Scuba Diving. Additional highlights include a Gallery of Underwater
Photography presented by the Los Angeles Underwater Photo Society, and
an extensive children's activity area dubbed "Kid's Place at
SEASPACE." Among a variety of stimulating educational activities,
youngsters aged 5-12 can go on a simulated scuba dive through a coral
reef constructed of recycled materials.

Adults will enjoy a wide array of seminars and presentations by
luminaries including Howard & Michele Hall, Marty Snyderman, and Bret
Gilliam. In-depth workshops include "Improving your Underwater
Photography Technique" by Jesse Cancelmo, and a "Digital Photography
Workshop" to be presented by Wetpixel's Eric Cheng and James Wiseman.

Admission to SEASPACE 2004 at Reliant Center is just $6 per person.
Kids 12 and under, and scouts in uniform, are admitted free of charge.
Exhibit Hall hours are 10 am - 6 pm on Saturday, June 5 and 10 am -
4 pm on Sunday, June 6. Advance ticket order information and a
complete weekend schedule may be downloaded from

Here's one...

There were a few, um, questionable scenes depicted...
Thanks. That was a good thread.

Someone referred to them "climbing all over them like a bunch of monkeys" when it came to reefs. That does sound questionable.

I'll be at SEASPACE..and I'll see the movie! Thanks Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

We bought the dvd and really enjoyed it. Yes, it was a little disturbing to see them touching the reef in excess, especially when the movie is about protecting the reefs. I feel that their concern though is genuine, but it looked like doing the movie was just an excuse to get in some great diving. I have to admit, I would do the same given the opportunity!! It is very beautifully photographed and nicely made. I would love to see it at an IMAX theatre. We are fortunate, we have an 8 ft screen with a projector and you can tell it would be awesome in the IMAX format. Well worth buying the dvd. We bought 'The Living Sea' along with it. Although not as much diving in it, it still was very good. You can get them at amazon.com

Saw it at an IMAX thatre about 3months ago when it was all snow outside all i could talk about after the movie was i wanted to go diving .

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE DRIFT DIVE WITH HAMMERHEADS AT THE END MUST HAVE BEEN UNBELEIVABLE.If you are passionate about diving this is a must see film.

I saw it twice at the IMAX theater, and now I own the DVD and have watched it on my TV. It loses much of the effect of seeing at the IMAX, but it is still an awesome movie! Yeah, some of the scenes with everyone moving over the coral are a little disturbing, and Howard was a little foolhardy in his deep dive that produced DCS, but other than that, the cinematography is incredible. It's a must see for divers.
