if your still in san diego and want to do some shorediving check out PowerScuba at meetup.com. They are a pretty active group I know that they have several morning dives and night dive schedule. And if you post on the site you will be able to find someone to dive with

How was the temp on the kelp dive, if you remember? I'm curious because I plan to be there in mid August. I dove catalina a couple of years ago and I was fine with my 5 mil, hoods and gloves. I'm wondering if its comparable????

Mid August you will see surface temps in the mid-upper 60s and bottom temps as low as mid-50s.
