I've only recently completed my OW course and have already been out for several dives. I already find myself wanting insurance for peace of mind and practical reasons of course.

However, I'm not really sure if there is one that is better than the other. Padi or Dan?

Could I get some people's impressions please.

Thanks in advance,

Arch

DAN insurance will get you immediate treatment. PADI's may be as readily accepted, I don't know. Before DAN, you were on your own. I recommend supporting DAN. While there have been some issues raised with DAN recently, I still think they are the better organization to support.

I just renewed my DAN master insurance. Why?

Mainly at the time I bought it a year ago for the first time it was the name recognition. I had heard of DAN so I went with them. Why Master? It covers below recreational depths. And it's only $64. It covers me in an emergency that I could be in.

It also seems that DAN insurance is the globablly recognized one...may be honored easier.

Thanks for the replies so far.

And thanks in particular to Doc Vikingo for the search link. I did actually did try a search first, but only used the word "insurance" and got pages of lots of wonderful things completely unrelated to what I wanted. :D

Will have a read through them when I wake up in the morn.

Thanks again,

Arch

Dan, Dan, Dan,,,, I like there coverage.

Rich :mean:

about the whole Bennett thing, I renewed my DAN membership and insurance recently.

I'll give it another year... I may have a different view a year from now...we'll see.

In 1995 I went on a boat dive trip. Every dive was fantastic. I stupidly thought I could overcome the laws of physics and found out I couldn't.

One call the DAN and problem fixed...

Now I even get my equipment insurance from them!

Been looking at the DAN site and found that I have to apply through DAN Japan. (As I'm living in Tokyo at the moment.) Problem with that is that the Japanese website is.....well, in Japanese. And that does about as much good to me as titties on a bull.

Still waiting to get word back from a DAN rep but was wondering if anyone had any ideas please?

Thanks in advance,

Arch
